Sculptures
Sculpture has always been the core and most important mode of expression in Bernhard Gewer's work.
The classical work in natural stone, in bronze and aluminium casting and in concrete casting, which was still new 60 years ago, were the essential means in the material.
Strict lines and constructive approaches are often integral expressive features of his sculptures, which in their attitude also go back to his architectural studies with Prof. Neufert in Darmstadt, who was one of the first Bauhaus students and whose works were strongly characterised by function and rigour.
Both figurative and abstract, a cosmos of sculptures and sculptural experiments emerged over more than five decades.

Hagen a. T. W., an der Grundschule Gellenbeck. Pfarrer Görsmann starb kurz vor Vollendung seines 69. Lebensjahres 1942 im Konzentrationslager Dachau. Der Grund seiner Verhaftung: Sein menschliches Engangement für französische Kriegsgefangene.
