Sculpture
Early works
The early sculptural works date from the late 1940s to the late 1950s and bear witness to processes of discovery, development of form, influences and specially developed materiality.
In their tranquillity, economy and simplicity, they reflect the post-war years and were created partly parallel to his architectural studies in Darmstadt and partly during his sculpture studies in Münster and Stuttgart.
The first consistently abstract works were created during this phase and nominated works such as the early Madonna from 1956, which was shown as part of the Recklinghausen exhibition „ junger westen 57 “, founded with the Ruhr Festival in the city as an early modern German art show.
